![]() Mr. N.H.Israni, Chairman, inaugurated the Geeta Israni Centre of Quality Assurance at Mumbai's Sophia College for the students pursuing the Postgraduate Diploma course in Quality Assurance in the Foods & Pharmaceuticals industry. The Centre was inaugurated amidst much fanfare on October 13 at the A.V.Hall, Sophia Anderson Annexe, Sophia Campus, on the occation of the diploma conferring ceremony of the 14th batch of students. It is fitting that the new Centre is dedicated to late Mrs. Geeta Israni, wife of the Chairman who passed away last year. The Centre reflects the company's ethos and its abiding emphasis on quality. ![]() In November 07, Chariman Mr.N.H.Israni presided over the Goa Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (GPMA) Annual General Meeting as the chief guest. In his heynote address, he presented an overview of the pharmaceutical industry - post Independence, the present scenario, the future prospects and challenges in the times of increasing globalization and the era of patents. As a token of appreciation, Goa's Chief Minister, Mr. Digamber Kamath and the GPMA President Mr.Cesar Menzes jointly presented a souvenir to Mr. N.H.Israni. Nearly a hundred participants, including the luminaries of the pharma industry, were present on the occasion. The function was also attended by the State Chief Secretary and several high government officials and other dignitaries from Press and media. ![]() To mark the first death anniversary of the late Mrs. Geeta Israni, wife of Chariman Mr. N.H.Israni, Blue Cross employees of Nashik held a Blood Donation camp on November 29, 2007. A team of doctors from the Arpan Blood Bank of Nashik assisted in the drive, and collected 35 units of blood from donors, including factory staff, members of the Union Committee and industrial training students. Such acts of random kindness underscore the company's missioin to nurture positive ties with the community.. ![]() An international conference and workshop in laproscopic surgery was held in October 2007 at the NIMIHANS Convention Center supported by the Bangalore Encloscopic Training Institute & Research Centre. Blue Cross was one of the sponsors for the event, which had nearly 1,000 delegates attending the meet on 'Laproscopy - the new generation of surgical approach.' The conference included live surgical demonstrations from three hospitals at the venew. Agadi Hospital in Bangalore dedicated two operating theatres for three days for live surgical demonstrations. Hands-on training in laproscopic suturing was imparted to all the delegates on 50 endo trainers and five virtual reality simulators. A videoconference was held in which keynote speakers from the renowned centres of the world addressed the attendees. The endoscopy surgeries covered a range of specialized areas including GI surgary, Urology, Gynaecology and Paediatric surgary. ![]() In an overwhelming response from Doctors accrose the country, the 'Freedom Campaign' in its second phase from September to November, was able to generate an additional Rs. 5,12,076/-. At a warm ceremony, Chariman Mr.N.H.Israni donated a cheque of Rs.1,70,692/- each to the three organizations namely CRY, Helpage and Concern India Foundation. The novel compaign was launched by Blue Cross from June 1-November 30,2007, to help the underprivileged sections of the society by riding the sales momentum of three of the company's most successful brands - TUSQ, KOLQ, and BRONQ. The company had sent special preprinted cards to Doctors in India to donate towards three of the five charitable organizations of their choice namely CRY, Helpage and Concern India Foundation, Indian Red Cross Society and TBC India. And the efforts yielded good results. In all, the Freedom Campaign - the first ever to be held in the pharmaceutical industry - collected a whooping Rs. 8,53,043/-. This is a step forward, and an extension of the company's role towards society. ![]() Bihar floods late last year caused havoc in the region. Responding to a call by the Joint Secretary (Pharmaceuticals), Government of India, to donate medicines, Blue Cross immediately dispatched drugs worth Rs. 25,480/-. Mr. Naresh Singh, ZM, Patna, (right) seen with Mr. Girish Panday (left) of Red Cross Society, which coordinated the distribution of the medicines across the state. ![]() As part of their annual incentive package the top Sales performers of 2006-2007, Mr.A.M.Kotrappa - Sr.ZM Bangalore, Mr.P.Sreekumar - Sr.ZM Ernakulam, Mr.R.S.Bhadoria - ZM Indore and Mr. P.C.Joshi - ZM Jaipur, and senior RMs and RMs along with their families got to explore Singapore for three fun-filled days. A land of colourful contrasts juxtaposed with Chinese, Indian and Malay traditions, there was a lot to see and shop in Singapore. It was a trip well earned! Blue Cross has won top two places - a Gold as well as a Silver - in the prestigious Quality Excellence Awards 2006 of the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Associatiion (IDMA). The awards were in the category of Formulation Units - Annual Turnover more than Rs. 100 crore. While the Nashik Unit bagged the Gold, the Goa Unit won Silver.
